Janet Jackson to Receive ICON Award and Perform at 2025 American Music Awards

Janet Jackson is set to be honoured with the prestigious ICON Award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career. The ceremony will take place on Monday, 26 May, at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, where Jackson will also deliver her first live television performance since 2018.

The ICON Award is bestowed upon artists whose music has had an undeniable cultural and global influence over the music industry. Jackson, a five-time Grammy winner and 11-time AMA recipient, joins the ranks of previous ICON Award honourees such as Rihanna and Lionel Richie. Her upcoming performance is highly anticipated, as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of her entry into show business as a child star.

In addition to her appearance at the AMAs, Jackson will resume her Las Vegas residency, "JANET JACKSON: LAS VEGAS," at Resorts World Theatre. The residency includes six shows scheduled between 21 and 31 May, offering fans an opportunity to experience her dynamic stage presence in an intimate setting.

The 2025 AMAs will be hosted by Jennifer Lopez, who returns to the role after previously hosting the ceremony. Lopez will also perform during the event, adding to the evening's star-studded lineup. Other performers include Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Benson Boone, Lainey Wilson, and Reneé Rapp, promising a diverse array of musical acts.

This year's nominations are led by Kendrick Lamar with ten nods, followed by Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each receiving seven nominations. Fans had the opportunity to vote for their favourite artists until 15 May, with winners determined by key fan interactions, including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and tour grosses.

The 2025 American Music Awards will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET. Janet Jackson's recognition with the ICON Award and her return to the stage underscore her enduring impact on the music industry and her continued relevance in contemporary pop culture.
